Thank Saturn!
Mood:  celebratory
The Saturnalia party was a great success! I am very happy that nearly all of the M.I.S.T members were able to attend. For those that were not, I am deeply sorry; hopefully, next year we will be able to plan more thoroughly so that all may come. I also apologize to those who could not the secret Santa drawing at the meeting prior to Saturnalia. Bar that, I feel it was very fun and I do hope everyone had a good time. And on that note, had it not been for Ryan, we would have had little to no festivities regarding food. Thank you, my friend (I am glad your mother can cook up Baklava better than I ever could). Well that about covers it. I would like to wish everyone a happy Saturnalia; and, for the rest of you reading, Merry Christmas and happy holidays. Valete!

The Yahoo group is up and running.
Mood:  happy

Finally the much-ideated-about Yahoo group is finally up. Of course this means that the original website will no longer be updated as it seems redundant (and slightly pointless) to have two separate sites to serve the same purpose. The other one will be kept up for backup purposes only. You can check out the Yahoo group here.

Spoken Latin!
Mood:  celebratory

I came across this great website where you can download Latin Podcasts and spoken Laton tutorials in mp3 format! The following excerpt is from the website itself, and I think it provides a little more clarity, "The Online Latin Course. Learn Latin through Total Immersion. Download our free lessons to your MP3 player, and soak yourself through with the sounds of spoken Latin. Its the only way to rapidly acquire fluency. We offer free lessons in spoken Latin, an expanding repository of readings from classical texts, and a wide range of study materials for every level of learner."

I personally think this is quite amazing as not only is it spoken Latin (something I truly endorse), but almost everyone has access to it!

Happy Halloween!
Mood:  special

Well, so far I am quite pleased with attendance and the general direction the club is heading. I am glad that there exists so much interest in Latin and old world cultures, and that it became so prevalent with the initiation of some (relative) organization. And with that said, I would like to propose that we attempt to celebrate the coming holiday season like Romans, in that we have a Saturnalia (our Christmas) celebration in December. If you are interested, then please email me so we can bring it up at the next meeting. There is indeed a Roman festival for the passing of the dead, but it maybe too late to start planning now; So in the mean time, have a happy Halloween!

Welcome!
Mood:  cool

Well, the M.I.S.T official site is finally up and running and I could not be happier. For those of you who do not know, we are based out of Clarkston High School, but are in no way affiliated with them in any way (save for meeting place etc). Personally, this is my first weblog, and more importantly my first website, so any constructive criticism and advice is appreciated. Feel free to contact me at my email address, mogli11790@hotmail.com for any questions, concerns, or just to talk. I will try to help you in any way I can. I hope you enjoy your time here and thank you for visiting my website.

-Mike
